One simple, beautiful place to write a book, with friends close by.
Ascrivia is a writing app for books, with a community of writers around it. It’s a passion project, built because writing a book is long, lonely work, and it shouldn’t have to be.
Why it exists
Most writing tools are either powerful and solitary, or social and thin. Ascrivia tries to be both a proper place to build a manuscript, with a binder, index cards, a story bible and real export, and a place where the people you trust can read along as you go.
The goal stays the same as it grows: keep the core simple, beautiful and reliable. New themes, more ways to make the room your own, and room for much longer manuscripts come after that.
What Ascrivia promises writers
- Your projects are private by default, and shared one friend at a time.
- Download any project as a .quill backup whenever you like.
- Snapshots of every scene, so no draft is ever lost.
- Your profile never shows your manuscript’s text.
- A published book reaches search engines only if you choose to recommend it.
How it’s paid for
Ascrivia is free to use: no card, no trial. New packs of themes, companions and sounds come from the Stationer, Ascrivia’s own shop, for ink you earn by writing. Someday some may cost money, as extras on top of everything that’s free now. Until then, if you’d like to help with the server bill, you can buy me a coffee.
